Hand-Drawn Citycapes With Daniel Van Der Noon in Copenhagen

Remember when your dad came home and found you drawing on the hallway wall with your markers? That was a great day, right?

British artist Daniel van der Noon says he likes to travel a lot and see new cities, so maybe that explains why he can’t stop drawing them in all their meticulous complexity across walls, windows, and a variety of other surfaces. At this years Trailerpark Festival in Copenhagen, van der Noon spent hours on an orange wall while music fans poured in and milled about the grounds in search of bands like Micachu, Turboweekend, and When Saints Go Machine. “He specializes in city-scapes which he draws with poscas – and only poscas,” says photographer Henrik Haven, who offers these exclusive shots of the artist drawing his lengthy cityscapes, towers, and the manmade skylines that come largely from his imagination.

As if to underline with a fine marker the point that he can’t stop drawing, we include a post-party stop for the artist at a private home, where he convinced the owner that they needed a diagonal city climbing up the stairwell.

Fun Friday 08.31.12

You thought it would never end, but here it is, last day of August, and you have gorged yourself on as many popsicles and watermelon slices and street festival delicacies as possible and blasted your eardrums at free concerts, splashed and sunburned in the city pool, barfed off the edge of a roof BBQ party, and danced naked on the beach in Fort Tilden while your buddy Drew hit up the wall and Jenelle drew an arrow on her inner thigh with a sharpie. All the summer shares in the manicured Hamptons are having their last blow outs and next weekend there are a bunch of new art shows opening for fall so everybody will be coming back. For now let’s just have a fish fry and play some more. Also, pass that marker.

Fuzi UV TPK at the Hole (NYC)

Tattoo and Graffiti Artist Fuzi UV TPK will give you a free tattoo at the Hole Shop in Manhattan. I know, that sounds funny the way I said it sis. It’s like, “Dr. Snapdragon will give you a free appendectomy if you stop into the emergency room tonight”. But, seriously, this well known tattoo artist is on a mad dash visit to NYC and he’s looking forward to seeing you, needle poised.

Trailerpark Festival 2012 (Copenhagen, Denmark)

Trailerpark Festival

Soten (image courtesy of Trailerpark Festival)

Trailerpark Festival is  next week once again ready to take Copenhagen by storm. Trailerpark Festival focus on music and art from many subcultures. ArtRebels and Montana (mtn-world.com) are proud to announce this year’s street artists and graffiti crews, who will be playing a big part in the design and decoration of this year’s festival area. We have invited local as well as international world-class artists, who will be creating their works live within the festival area on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We are repeating last year’s success by putting up a 50 meter graffiti wall that will be available for our chosen artists during all three festival days. We want to give the audience a unique insight into how the very best graffiti artists work. The audience have a chance to follow the creation of a piece of work from start to finish, from sketch to the last outline.

This year, it is with great honour that we are able to present Letterbenders, Furious Styles, Big City Brains, Soten, Chifumi and Ogre.
