Mad One In Collaborartion With The Screaming Sky Gallery Present: “Printed Matters” 2013 (Portland, Oregon)

Printed Matter

Street/Gallery artist and curator “Mad One” will present and team up with The Screaming Sky Gallery in Portland,OR to host this one of a kind exhibit “Printed Matters”, a showcase of local and international artists, graphic designers, graffiti artists and of course avid print makers. The show will feature unique prints available in limited editions as well as in an array of print making mediums. During the opening reception we will have a handful of surprises like  plenty of sticker giveaways, free handouts throughout the night provided by our sponsors like energy drinks, clothes, magazines, dvds and limited edition items produced by showcasing artists and much more….

So both you and I know these types of shows are on the rise and there have been several Graffiti/Urban art themed shows throughout the city the last few years and this is one of a kind for sure “Mad One”, a Portland based street/gallery artist and curator, had the opportunity to lock down a variety of talented artists here locally, throughout the states as well as internationally for this group show.We have artists ranging from New York to California,Canada, the U.K. and beyond.

“Printed Matters” is primarily designed around supporting the urban art movement and bringing awareness to the artists involved and how they have gone from the streets to modern figures being displayed in today’s galleries and museums. Also the curator really wanted to shed light on the different mediums/methods used in printmaking and at the same time expose these rare pieces for all to see and or possibly take home. “Mad One”, a street art advocate, has taken on the duty of curating this one of a kind show as well as putting together some great line-ups in years past throughout different galleries in the U.S.

Here are the details, hope to see you there!!

Street/Gallery artist “Mad One” will present and team up with Cartel Coffee Lab to host the fifth annual one of a kind “Sticker Phiends”, a showcase of local and international sticker artists, graphic designers, graffiti artists and many others for a fifth year in a row. The show will feature stickers and other forms of urban/gallery art. Plenty of sticker giveaways, handouts throughout the night donated by our sponsors like clothes, magazines, dvds and limited edition screen prints/stickers produced by showcasing artists and much more….Also did we mention 100% of the art is for Sale! There are even a few secrets we do not want to mention; you will just have to show up to see for yourself…
There have been several Graffiti/Urban art themed shows throughout the valley the last few years. This is one of a kind for sure; its name explains itself “Sticker Phiends” an array of street/gallery artists and designers throughout the world coming together to show case under one roof. “Mad One”, a former Arizona based, now residing in Portland,Oregon street/gallery artist, had the opportunity to lock down many local and international artists for the show making it five years in a row, and this years expectations are growing still by the day. We have artists ranging from New York to California, theU.K. and beyond”. “Sticker Phiends” is about the sticker/urban art movement and bringing awareness of stickers and adhesives and how they have gone from the streets to modern forms of art being displayed in today’s galleries and museums. “Mad One”, a street art advocate, has taken on the duty of curating this one of a kind show and many others throughout the counrty.

Stickers and sticker art isn’t just for skateboarders and bands/DJ’s anymore, it has become a new way of expressing yourself and getting your name and or images out to the public eyes. Letting the general public analyze your images and getting up where ever you can, you can find stickers on the back of street signs, electric boxes, and magazine kiosks. Most importantly putting them up where no one has before. Some people just collect stickers, some simply just represent themselves. But either way you look at it stickers have been accepted and will be displayed as a new wave art form. Some of the artists on the bill will be coming into Phoenix for the show. I could mention a few names, but you will have to attend or stay tuned to find out who’s who and from where.

Sticker Phiends in AZ

Tempeh is a soy product and meat substitute originally from Indonesia. Tempe is a city in Arizona that is hosting the 4th giant Sticker Phiends show tonight. Stickers continue to grow in influence in Street Art and in private collections in black books and refrigerator doors and this is a cool show that gives them away and sells them. They have limited edition “Sticker Phiends” tee-shirts designed by Brooklyn street art collective Robots Will Kill. Also cold beer. Possibly tempeh too because Chris RWK is a good veggie.

EINE: Hoodlum to Heralded

It can be a harrowing and a strange trip that some graff/street artists take, and here’s a new video that gives an intimate inside look at some of Eine’s journey from tagging trains to making what might be described as fine art.  Just last month a piece by the British Street Artist was given to President Obama by the Prime Minister on a visit to Washington. “So it’s been a weird day today,” says a July 20th posting on Ben Eine’s website. “David Cameron has given one of my paintings to President Obama.”

In The Guardian article by Jon Henley, Eine was quoted last month reflecting on the two heads of state, Cameron seems quite a positive kind of guy and Obama’s a dude”. Wonder if it’s in the Oval Office?

Living Walls The City Speaks Atlanta

Living Walls Atlanta

A GRASS ROOTS COLLOQUIUM

An exhibition and conference focused on street art and its role in engaging public space.

We are bringing in the works of an international selection of artists who typically make use of the streets to showcase their work. We have also sought artists that re-appropriate the public realm, attempting to take charge of their media space.

Artists will be asked, along with submitting artwork, to present some form of documentation of their other works as well as their process in order to illustrate via pictures, video, sketches, words, etc, the scale and context in which the artist typically works in public space.
