Solo Exhibition
June 27—July 25, 2009

Opening Reception: Saturday, June 27, 7pm—9pm

Jonathan LeVine Gallery is pleased to present Top 10, a solo exhibition of new works by the Parisian street artist known as Invader. Returning to the gallery for his first solo show in New York, Top 10 marks a highly anticipated event for this internationally celebrated artist. Known for using mosaic tiles to re-create popular characters from vintage 8-bit video games (such as Space Invaders and Pac-Man) on the streets of cities around the world, the artist’s individual mosaics are carefully cataloged after placement in context to their surrounding environment. Yet, since the project has grown on a global-scale, each piece also carries considerable significance from a larger perspective—populating what is now a worldwide installation that stretches across the planet. Invader’s mosaics can be found on the streets of over 40 cities, on all five (inhabitable) continents. Like the game, his mission is literally an invasion of space.

STIKMAN and LA II “Amaze” at Factory Fresh

A MAZE

CELSO AND INFINITY PRESENT
STIKMAN AND LA II
&
introducing: Cbeauty

Opening Reception: Friday, November 14, 6-10pm
November 14 – December 2, 2008
New York City street artists Celso & infinity present A Maze, an exhibition and installation of work based on networks and passages. A gallery-sized, 7-foot-tall maze, constructed entirely out of original art, will immerse participants in a multidimensional environment designed to overwhelm the senses.

The work invites viewers to choose their path to a destination that, ultimately, is unknown. Random decisions have to be made at each artistic obstruction: Continue right or left? Go back and chose another route? The end result could offer great reward. Likewise, it could be a dead end. You choose.

The New York Times described their most recent collaboration, Post No Bills, a street art gallery in Long Island City as “Audacious.” The new show also features work by mysterious street art shaman Stikman, graffiti artist LA II (Little Angel Ortiz, a protégé and collaborator with street art legend Keith Haring) and also introduces the graceful and intricate art of Cbeauty.

A Maze is a site specific installation made for Factory Fresh that is curated and conceived by Celso and infinity in an attempt to better understand the challenges presented by working in an ever changing artistic landscape.

Projekt Projektor was this weekend

and we had such a blast with all the fun art fans on the streets of Dumbo for the Dumbo Under the Bridge Festival.  Over the 3 day event it is estimated that 150,000 people flood through the neighborhood to see artist studios, galleries, and multitudes of public art installations.  Together with mind-bendingly talented projectionists Josh Ott (SuperDraw), Jeremy Slater, SeeJ, and The Housewive’s Guide to Anatomy, Brooklyn Street Art projected images from the book and others from the booming scene by Jaime Rojo onto the side of the Manhattan Bridge, among other architectural surfaces.

The definition of street art was expanded again – mounted at Halcyon on the Pearl Street Triangle, with a live soundtrack performed by four New York electronic DJ’s streaming live on DailySessions.com.
